Vilarmaior is a small rural town that served as a way for pilgrims on the old road to Santiago. Those who visit the municipality will discover unspoiled landscapes and places full of charm.
Like its neighboring municipalities, Vilarmaior also preserves archaeological sites such as As Croas and Tesouro de Vilarmaior as well as several rock carvings.
In the architectural heritage, the church of Santa María de Doroña (12th century), the rectory of San Xurxo de Torres and the various mills that are preserved on the banks of the rivers of the municipality stand out.
In Vilarmaior the Feira das Flores is celebrated, a unique festival in the area that praises the Galician rural culture. Crafts, gastronomy and flowers meet every third Sunday in May.
